2016 AFLC Sporting Clay Mixed Fun and Fund-Raising
The Austin Founder Lions Club had its annual Sporting Clay Shoot-out on June 17, 2016, at Capitol City Trap & Skeet in Austin. AFLC presented the Center for Child Protection with a check for $10,000 at the awards luncheon. The nonprofit organization helps Austin-area children who enter the justice system because of an allegation of abuse or a violent crime.
Members of the National Football League Alumni – Austin Chapter again partnered with AFLC to host the event which had 23 teams of shooters. “We grew the event in terms of sponsors and teams again this year,” said Jim Overton, event chairman. “Austin Lions are pleased to have increased their contribution to the Center for Child Protection. Supporting children’s organizations and their needs is a priority for our members,” he added.
AFLC appreciates the support of its 12 corporate, 16 team and 20 station sponsors as well as the more than 50 volunteers who helped make the event a success. The teams sponsored by Austin Sonic Drive-In and Smokey Mo’s BBQ won their respective flights, and each team member received an autographed NFL football.
