DESCRIPTION:https://www.austindowntownlions.org/event-93734\n\nWeekly Luncheon & Program \n From Defeat to Possibilities:\nTransforming an Academically Unacceptable Campus\nintroduced by Lion Gus Garcia\n \nDr. Helen Johnson will talk about the challenges that she faced when she was assigned to be the Principal at Garcia Middle School at the beginning of school year 2008-09\, following the first year of operations at Garcia and also following the announcement that Garcia had be rated "unacceptable".  In the second year of operations Garcia came very close to earning an "acceptable" rating and missed it only because It did not make the grade in science.  \n \n Now in the third year of operations\, Dr. Johnson believes that Year 3 will be the year in which Garcia earns an "acceptable" rating\, and those of us who know her well firmly believe that she will do it.  She also wants to talk to the members of the club about what they can do to help her in her ambitious mission.
