Anne L. Idsal

The Texas General Land Office has wide ranging but not widely known responsibilities to the citizens of Texas beyond just stewardship of public lands and coastlines. Chief Clerk Ann L. Idsall is the Land Office's second ranking official and holds one of the oldest titles in state government. She will update us on the GLO's new role as official caretaker of Texas' most historic site, The Alamo. The GLO also maintains an impressive collection of historic maps and architectural illustrations of Texas landmarks, some of which the Chief Clerk will share with us as well.

On April 17, 2015, Commissioner George P. Bush announced the appointment of Anne L. Idsal to serve as the first female Chief Clerk of the Texas General Land Office (GLO). In this constitutionally mandated position, Idsal acts as the chief executive officer and manages the operations of the agency under Commissioner Bush’s strategic leadership. An experienced Texas lawyer with extensive government experience, Idsal has been a vital adviser having also served as the GLO General Counsel after Commissioner Bush was elected to office. Prior to her service at the GLO, Idsal also worked at the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality as General Counsel and as Special Counsel and Executive Assistant to TCEQ Chairman Bryan W. Shaw, Ph.D., P.E.
