Christopher Currens, Director of Special Projects Introduced by Lion Gaylord Armstrong
Chris Currens is Director for Special Projects for the State Preservation Board of the State of Texas and oversees the renovation, maintenance and preservation of the State Capitol, the Governor's Mansion, the Bullock Texas State Historical Museum, the General Land Office Building among other properties constituting the Capitol Complex.
The State Preservation Board (SPB) was created after the 1983 fire which caused extensive damage to the State Capitol. SPB oversaw the reconstruction, renovation and modernization of the Capitol and the construction of the four-story underground Capitol Extension. Also the SPB oversaw and supervised the renovation of the Governor's Mansion after the fire which gutted the Mansion in 2005. The SPB also operates the Bullock Texas State Historical Museum, the Texas State Cemetery as well the preservation, maintenance and groundskeeping services for the Capitol Complex.
