Dr. Timothy Woolsey

Concert Pianist

February 13, 2020

Dr. Timothy Woolsey
Introduced by Lion Peggy Brunner

Dr. Woolsey is an accomplished concert pianist who will be playing works by Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff. Immediately after lunch we will adjourn to the nearby Auditorium for an enhanced acoustical experience. You might want to bring along your significant other to share in this unique program the day before St. Valentine’s Day. It’s rumored that there will be chocolate covered strawberries for desert.

Dr. Timothy Woolsey holds the Bachelor of Arts degree from Trinity College (Hartford, CT), the Master of Music in Piano Performance and Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance from the University of Texas where he studied with John Perry.  He began teaching at Texas State University in 1975. He has presented well over 100 performances and masterclasses in the past years at such venues as the Phillips Collection, National Gallery of Art, the Music Teachers National Association Convention and Texas Music Teachers Association Conventions. He presented faculty solo recitals every year at TSU from 1975 to 2008. In 1993 he was selected as Collegiate Teacher of the Year by the Texas Music Teachers Association. In the spring of 2008 he retired from full time teaching at TSU, and in the fall of the same year he was named Professor Emeritus. He taught piano pedagogy in Hong Kong each summer from 2006-2012 and maintains a large class of pre-college piano students in Austin. His students have won many major competitions in the state of Texas. In 2015 and 2016 he was invited to teach piano adjunct at the University of  Texas. In the last few years he has taken up portraiture and has won top awards from the Austin Pastel Society and participated in the West Austin Studio Tour.
