Steve Gillen - Gillens Candies

introduction by Lion Peter Berardino

Gillens Candies

Speakers Bio: Steve Gillen is the owner of Gillen's Candies in Blanco Texas. After moving to Austin in 1984 to start his building company, he then had to close it in 2008 due to health and financial reasons.
With more time on his hands, he began to study chocolate....
The chocolate taste ran in the family... his great grandfather had started a candy company in 1895 called Gillen & Boney in Lincoln, Nebraska which later became Gillen's Candies around 1918 when Boney died of inflenza.
The company operated under that name until 1943 when freezing of prices caused the company to go out of business.

Several years later, Steve brings his family business back to life.

Featured Lunch Menu: meat and vegetables dish (TBD); mixed field green salad with assorted rolls and a featured daily dessert. Vegetarian meal or Grilled Chicken Caesar salad are available alternatives as well.

Please register by noon on Wednesday

We order meals based on your reservations and must pay for them even if you do not show up. Please keep this in mind if your plans shift and cancel your reservation so we can adjust the headcount.
