Speakers Bio: After four decades and counting in broadcasting, Bob Cole has experienced many twists and turns in his career.
He dominated the Austin airwaves for over 20 years as the morning host on KVET 98.1 FM and most recently is responsible for reviving KOKE FM, where he hosts the morning show Koke& Cole In The Morning every weekday from 6-10 AM.
In bringing back KOKE FM, Bob Cole has realized a true dream in being able to create a renaissance of the most iconic radio station in Austin history.
Inducted into the Country Music Radio Hall of Fame in 2003 and the Texas Radio Hall of Fame in 2008, Cole’s professional achievements are significant and plentiful. Named CMA’s Broadcast Personality of the Year in 3 different market size categories and known for presenting highly rated talk show programming; Cole’s popularity has spread across and beyond the borders of the state of Texas.
Bob Cole is also the official stadium announcer with Bill Little for all the University of Texas Longhorn Football games, as well as the voice of Longhorn Baseball and the Longhorn Band. Awarded Humanitarian of the Year by Austin Sertoma Club, Citizen of the Year by Elks Lodge, and numerous other prestigious titles, Bob makes time in his demanding schedule to give back to the local community.
He has dedicated time to countless causes, including but not limited to, Boy Scouts of America, Crime Stoppers, Austin YMCA, Brown Santa and March of Dimes Walk America.
Through the years, his commitment to community service is unwavering. Bob’s devotion to cultural preservation is demonstrated in his other business ventures, as well. He owns Austin’s Hill’s Café and formerly The Tavern and Frisco Nighthawk restaurants.
These cultural icons are alive today due in part to faithful Austinites, as well as Bob’s endeavors to protect aspects of Austin’s unique character; creating an irreproducible experience for future generations to enjoy.
Bob and Linda, his wife of 34 years, have a 25-year-old son, Jason, who attends St. Edward’s University and a 24-year-old daughter, Amanda, who attends Texas State University.
Cole resides in South Austin with his family and 3 dogs and 3 cats. Famous for coining the phrase, “Ain’t it great to be alive in Austin, Texas,” a man who truly loves Austin – “Barbecue Bob Cole”
