Update on Afghanistan and Carpet Bazaar

This meeting will feature a return engagement with Eddie Bloom giving us an update on his most recent experiences in Afghanistan. Eddie will share his stunning photographs and amazing stories of his exploits while on an aid mission from when the Taliban was ousted to the present day.

Before and after the meeting he will have his collection of authentic Afghan carpets for sale at discounted prices (bring cash, check and all your friends). Eddie is donating 20% of sales and a carpet to the club which will be auctioned off at the meeting.

Eddie Bloom been serving as a International Development Officer in the USAID/ Afghanistan Mission since December, 2009.

He holds master degrees in both political science and international affairs and has worked in the field for the last 12 years. Prior to his work abroad, Eddie was employed by the State of Texas and he is also a former Austin Downtown Founder Lions Club member and Past President.

He has worked extensively in numerous community service organizations, including the US Peace Corps, the Texas Association for the Education of Young Children and the Texas School for the Blind.

While he is visiting home in Austin for a short break from his work in Afghanistan, he has agreed to join us as a featured luncheon speaker. Eddie will update us on the state of affairs in Afghanistan, present his best photos and tell his un-told stories from his now 5-years of service in the war-torn country.

We order meals based on your reservations and must pay for them even if you do not show up. Please keep this in mind if your plans shift and cancel your reservation so we can adjust the headcount.
