This presentation will provide an overview of SCIVIS (Space Camp for Interested Visually Impaired Students), a one-week camp with a focus on space travel and aviation held at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. Amina Abdalla, a senior at Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, will share her personal experience at "Aviation Challenge" in September 2016.

Bonus program: We will have a short lesson on cane travel & guiding people who are blind following the presentation. Blindfolds and canes will be provided.

Amina Abdalla, a senior from the Dallas area, is in her second year at TSBVI. After graduation, she hopes to remain in Austin, attend community college, and pursue a career in the hospitality industry, specifically travel & tourism.

Cheryl Austin is a certified Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI) who came to TSBVI in August 2015. Her role, Residential Teacher, supports instruction in independent living, social, and recreation and leisure skills. Cheryl is also a registered dietitian and a certified personal trainer.

Come to the cafeteria (see campus map) at the TSBVI. Please be there by 11:30 am if you would like lunch for only $3. You may pay on-site.

Presentation begins at 12:10 in the auditorium. No food or drink are allowed in the auditorium.
