The Chicken Ranch Revealed
January 26, 2017

Introduced by Lion Robert Seidel

Jayme Lynn Blaschke, author of the recently published Inside the Texas Chicken Ranch: The Definitive Account of the Best Little Whorehouse, did indeed grow up in Texas, and in fact not too far from La Grange, the site of the historic Chicken Ranch, where legend insists nothing dirty was goin’ on.

Blaschke left his small town of Columbus to attend Texas A&M University, earning a journalism degree in 1992. He spent the next decade writing and editing for newspapers and regional magazines: Some notable interviews were with Nolan Ryan, Hillary Clinton and George W. Bush.

He made the transition to media relations, then scored his first fiction sale in 1997 to the British magazine Interzone. Since then he’s published an array of short stories, articles and magazines in many markets.

Though Dolly Parton’s famous film leads folks to believe they know the Chicken Ranch story, Blaschke’s book proves the reality is much more complex. Through exclusive interviews, he tells a fascinating, revelatory story about how the more than 100-year-old ranch (which operated openly under the sheriff’s watchful eye) was exposed through a secret conspiracy that utilized an opportunistic reporter to bring things crashing down on prime time television.

Today, Blaschke lives in New Braunfels and maintains a website at www.JaymeBlaschke.com.
