Austin Founder Lions Club
It's finally here ... our centennial gift to the children of Austin has been installed in the Zilker Playscape, and we're going to have an Austin Founder Lions celebration and picnic to ROAR ABOUT IT!!!
CENTENNIAL LION FOUNTAIN CELEBRATION
... and there's been a lot of history in the making on this project. Here we are at the amazing intersection of 100 years of Austin Founder Lions and 100 years of Zilker Park. We might float a hundred purple and yellow balloons just to round it all out.
It only happens once. Every Lion in the Oldest Lions Club in the World oughta be there!!
The Mayor is coming to officially proclaim May 5th, 2017 as Austin Downtown Founder Lions Day. And several City Council members are coming to back him up (Doo-Wop-Doo-Wop!!!). All sorts of luminaries will be on hand. It was the Austin Lions who—'way back in 1927—sent a resolution to the City Council calling for them to establish an Austin Recreation Department, which of course the council duly passed, AND which became today's Austin Parks and Recreation. Did you know?
It's part of our history! And we're still making it!
THEN we'll all board the Zilker Zephyr
and ride the train down to the Pecan Grove for a Lions Picnic!!!
SO WHEN YOU GET THE NOTICE TO SIGN UP,
SIGN UP!!
SAY YOU'LL BE THERE
TO ROAR IN OUR NEXT CENTURY OF SERVICE
