Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

Turning Type 1 into Type None

Mike Brin, Executive Director - JDRF, Austin Chapter

Introduced by Lion Ann Ward

This year, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation – Austin Chapter is the primary beneficiary of Austin Founder Lions Club’s 9th Annual Sporting Clay Shoot-Out on June 7. Come meet Executive Director Mike Brin and learn about JDRF and what it does, including some promising new research. Mike will share information about what JDRF does in the Austin community – primarily education, outreach and family/caregiver support – as a result of funds raised locally. JDRF – Austin Chapter also helps recruit Type 1 diabetic children to attend Texas Lions Camp!

Prior to joining the JDRF – Austin Chapter, Mike worked at the American Diabetes Association in Dallas, and has more than 10 years’ experience in the nonprofit development field. Mike has Type 1 diabetes as do his brother and cousin. Mike and his wife Ellie have three children: Makenzie, age 8; Jackson, 6; and Parker, 2.
