Assistance League of Austin - What We Do

Assistance League of Austin is a longtime local 501(c)(3) organization that returned over a million dollars to the Austin area community last year.

Our program's focus on helping children and families in need. We provide clothing and household goods, purchase instructional items for schools, give scholarships to worthy ACC students, and offer comfort items to hospitalized children and victims of assault.

We are an all-volunteer organization, raising the largest portion of our revenue through our THRIFT HOUSE sales, with the remaining portion through donations and grants.

About our Speaker:

Anna and her spouse came to Austin in 1975 so that she could complete her graduate degree in Library Science. Like so many others, they never left. Her professional life was divided between two very different environments. From the late 70’s to the early 90’s she worked with her husband in their homebuilding and real estate companies. In the mid 90’s, she returned to her initial profession as a librarian and spent the last twenty years as an academic librarian at St. Edward’s University.

She retired in 2018 and started looking for an interesting, fun, and worthwhile volunteer opportunity. She found all of that and more at Assistance League of Austin.
