AISD 2022 Bond Proposal

 The Austin Independent School District has faced a number of challenges in recent years including coping with the effects of a pandemic, declining enrollment, and the need to upgrade facilities. Interim Superintendent Dr. Anthony Mays will address these issues and explain an upcoming $2.44 billion bond package coming up in November. Early voting starts October 24^th, Election Day is November 8^th

About our speaker:

Dr. Anthony Mays has more than 20 years of experience as an education professional. He has served as a classroom teacher, principal and administrator. His most recent appointment prior to joining Austin ISD was senior director of schools for the Harris County Department of Education. He has worked in Dallas ISD and Fort Worth ISD, beginning his career at Pflugerville ISD as a special education teacher.

Mays has a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from Huston-Tillotson University and a Master of Education from Texas State University. He received his doctorate in education from Tarleton State University. Dr. Mays is an adjunct professor at the University of Houston Downtown and University of Houston-Lone Star College Kingwood.

Active in his community, he serves as vice chairman of the Texas Alliance of Black School Educators Central Office Commission.

Starting at 11:45 a.m., a BBQ buffet, consisting of choice of meats (brisket, pork ribs, smoked turkey breast, sausage), choice of sides (beans, potato salad, coleslaw), drinks (water or unsweetened ice tea), and a dessert (banana pudding) will be available in the Crockett Room. Cost of the lunch is $14.00 per person. Please register online before 5 pm on Tuesday. You can pay online or at the meeting, but it is much preferred that you pay online to reduce handling of cash. The actual meeting will begin at noon, and conclude by 1 p.m.
