About our Speaker:

Pat is a 1982 graduate of the University of Texas with a degree in Civil Engineering. After graduation he was commissioned as a Naval Officer and upon completion of flight school designated a Naval Aviator.

His tactical at sea assignments involved numerous deployments flying the F-14 “Tomcat” while continuing to take positions of increasing responsibility. He then transitioned to the F-18 “Hornet” where he had his first command opportunity to lead 18 Pilots and 240 Sailors flying 12 aircraft while deployed to multiple war zones. After his successful command tour, Pat was selected to attend the Navy’s Nuclear Power School and follow-on tour as Executive Officer of USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69). Pat’s next assignment was as the Commanding Officer of a fast combat support ship, USS Seattle (AOE 3) and then the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), where he turned around a struggling ship and successfully deployed in support of current operations around the world. Pat’s last command tour in the Navy was as Commander, Carrier Strike Group 9 embarked in USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), where he was responsible for the operations, training, and budget of the strike group which consisted of one aircraft carrier, two cruisers, six guided missile destroyers, four fast frigates, nine aircraft squadrons and over 7000 sailors.

Pat served ashore as an adversary and F-14 instructor pilot, and Chief of Staff, Standing Joint Forces Headquarters. His first flag officer tour was as deputy director for operations, US Joint Staff at the National Military Command Center. In one of his few breaks between deployments, Pat earned a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Affairs from the U.S. Naval War College.

Pat retired from the Navy in 2014 and Chevron in 2023 where he was a Senior Leadership Advisor. Pat and his wife Gail have been Lakeway Airpark residents since December 2020 and enjoy the friendly neighbors and community.
