International Peace Poster Contest

The Peace Poster Contest is a world wide art contest for 11, 12, and 13 year olds and is sponsored by Lions Club International. For over three decades, Lions clubs around the world have been sponsoring young artists in schools and youth groups giving them the chance to express their visions of peace and inspire the world through art and creativity. This year our Austin Founder Lions Club sponsored the Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders and the St. Andrews Episcopal School. Other schools have been sponsored in past years. Every year a different theme is selected. For the 2023 year the theme is “Dare to Dream”. Students receive a prize of $100.00 for first place and $50.00 for second place at each school. Come and meet one of the young artists as well as one of the local art judges. We can all be thankful to our AFLC for sponsoring this creative event.

Starting at 11:45 a.m., a BBQ buffet, consisting of choice of meats (brisket, pork ribs, smoked turkey breast, sausage), choice of sides (beans, potato salad, coleslaw), drinks (water or unsweetened ice tea), and a dessert (banana pudding) will be available in the Crockett Room. Cost of the lunch is $14.00 per person. Please register online before 5 pm on Tuesday. You can pay online or at the meeting, but it is much preferred that you pay online to reduce handling of cash. The actual meeting will begin at noon, and conclude by 1 p.m.
