 Nicole Villalpando
Season for Caring editor at the Austin-American Statesman

Introduced by Lion Sam Ruiz

The Statesman's Season for Caring is celebrating its 25th year of providing basic needs for local nonprofits including Meals on Wheels Central Texas, Family Eldercare, Caritas of Austin, Hospice of Austin, Any Baby Can and Wonders and Worries. The Statesman selects up to a dozen families each year, nominated by these local nonprofits and shines a light on their needs. Money raised helps the featured families as well as hundreds of other clients of the nonprofits. Each year we provide more than $1 million in funds for basic needs such as rent, medical care, utilities and groceries.

If you want to donate or learn more, go to Statesman.com/season-for-caring and any of the stories have a link to donate money, which is the biggest need and does the most good. You can also read any of the stories and find a link to the family's wish list and buy things on the wish list or provide services needed.
