Speaker's Bio: Steve Pustelnyk, otherwise known as MoPac Man is heading up the community outreach program for the MoPac Improvement Project.
The $200 million project involves the widening of MoPac to add an Express Lane in each direction from Lady Bird Lake to Parmer Lane.
The project groundbreaking was held in October 2013 and the new lanes are scheduled to open in the fall of 2015. In addition to the new lanes the project involves the construction of nearly 7 miles of sound walls to reduce noise in adjacent neighborhoods.
There is also a comprehensive aesthetics and landscaping program to improve the appearance of the corridor.
The MoPac Improvement Project is being implemented by the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority, a government agency serving the citizens of Williamson and Travis Counties.
The agency was created in 2003 and currently operates the 183A toll road in Cedar Park and the U.S. 290 (Manor Expressway) northeast of Austin.
Mr. Pustelnyk has been with the Mobility Authority since 2005 and led the agency’s communication and marketing program prior to assuming his role as MoPac Man.
